Emergency Services Deputy Director
Overview:
Responsible for emergency management, fire suppression, fire prevention, hazardous materials, emergency medical care, and other emergency response and administration functions. The position reports directly to the Emergency Services Director and will serve as the Emergency Services Director of the County in his absence.
Duties:
Develop, review, implement and exercise Emergency Management, Disaster and Homeland Security Plans. Prepare, conduct and coordinate Public Education and Preparedness Programs. Severe storm operations. Evacuation and Shelter Operations. Post Event Damage Assessment. Responds to Hazardous Material incidents and performs Haz-Mat mitigation activities including but not limited to leak control, clean up and reporting. Respond to incident involving potential WMD agents, explosive or other materials. Perform Wilderness Search and Rescue activities to include: Boat Operations, K-9 Operations, Drone Operations, Tracking and Search Scene Management. Responds to structure fires, vehicle fires, wild land fires and other fire related emergencies. Perform water supply, extinguishment and overhaul and investigate duties. Responds to Emergency Medical Calls, including motor vehicle collisions and mass casualty incidents. Ability to function in an ICS structure. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
Four-year degree with ten (10) years’ experience in Emergency Management, Fire Service, Emergency Medical Services, or other related field, and have a minimum of two (2) years’ administrative or supervisory experience. Industry Training/Certifications, multi-discipline experience, and familiarity with Coastal Communities a plus. Must be a certified firefighter.
