Counselor

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Middle School Guidance Counselor to support the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our students. This role involves providing individual and group counseling, assisting with academic planning, addressing behavioral concerns, and collaborating with teachers, parents, and administrators to create a supportive learning environment. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of adolescent development, and a commitment to helping students succeed academically and personally.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in counseling or related field
• Eligible to hold a GaPSC issued teaching certificate

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in School Counseling or related field
• Hold a GaPSC issued teaching certificate in School Counseling
• Experience working with middle school aged students

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in a standard in-person school setting
• Regularly involves standing, speaking, and interacting with students, parents, and colleagues
• May require occasional lifting of materials or equipment
• Requires the ability to use classroom technology, including projectors, computers, and learning management systems
• Regular work hours are during the school day, with occasional evening or weekend commitments for parent-teacher conferences, school events, or professional development
• Must be adaptable to varying student needs and group sizes
• May include additional duties such as sponsoring extracurricular activities or supervising student clubs

Employment Terms:

• 190 Work Calendar
• Annual Salary based on degree level and previous years of experience in a similar role
• Jackson County Schools Salary Schedules
• This position is elligible for an additional supplement for counseling duties outside of the regular work day
