What are the responsibilities and job description for the Account Resolution Supervisor position at Jackson County Memorial Hospital?
Job Summary: Under the direction of the Patient Accounting Director, the Account Resolution Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating and controlling the day-to-day activities of the Account Resolution Representative office. Job duties include but are not limited to supervising staff to ensure claims are processed accurately and efficiently so that maximum hospital reimbursement is received from payers; developing, establishing and implementing operational policies and procedures; and working with patients and their representatives to resolve issues and questions associated with their account balances.
Educational/Experience/Regulatory Requirements:
- Ability to organize work, direct and set priorities, and effectively accomplish required duties with minimal or no supervision.
- An acceptable Associate's Degree (or equivalent) required. A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent is preferred.
- Two to four years previous acceptable experience in a Patient Financial Services, Patient Accounting, Accounts Receivable or Business office setting required. Experience in claims and remittance processing preferred.
- One to two years of supervisory experience or three years experience in a position that demonstrates leadership qualities required.
- Prior work history must demonstrate a thorough understanding of medical insurance, procedures related to filing claims, and understanding of medical records.
- Intermediate to Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and/or Microsoft Access preferred.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment testing including but not limited to clerical ability and typing test.
- Previous work history that demonstrates steady attendance and punctuality is required.
Language Skills:
- Must be able to read & communicate effectively in English.
- Must be able to communicate firmly what is required of patients in regards to their financial status.
- Must be able to communicate (orally and in writing) effectively with patients, doctors and other departments in the institution.
