What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housekeeper (Cullowhee Recreation Center) position at Jackson County (NC)?
This position provides a safe, clean, and sanitized environment for visitors and staff in County buildings.
Location: Cullowhee Parks and Recreation CenterWork Schedule: Monday - Friday, 3 pm - 11 pm
Grade 15
- Sanitizes and cleans assigned areas.
- Inspects buildings for debris and special cleaning.
- Conducts general building maintenance.
- Performs setup for special events.
- Maintains and updates Material Safety Data Sheets.
- Inspects and tests fire alarms and fire extinguishers.
- Monitors recycling collection bins.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; two (2) years directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses or Certifications: Possession of a valid, State of North Carolina driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle. Requirement exists at the time of hire and as a condition of continued employment.
- Knowledge of County and departmental policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances.
- Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components.
- Skill in operating, maneuvering and/or controlling the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.
- Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Ability to understand and follow safety procedures regarding equipment, supplies, and chemicals.
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with management, employees, members of the general public and other groups involved in the activities of the County as they relate to the department.
