Position Overview :
The Automotive Technician High School Instructor is responsible for educating students in the fundamentals and advanced techniques of automotive technology, preparing them for careers in the automotive industry or further education.
The instructor delivers engaging, hands-on instruction in a classroom and shop setting, ensuring that students develop technical skills, safety awareness, and problem-solving abilities aligned with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities :
Instructional Excellence :
- Teach a curriculum that covers various aspects of the automotive industry.
- Incorporate real-world applications, safety protocols, and hands-on activities to engage students effectively.
Student Development :
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Support students in achieving industry certifications and exploring career opportunities.
Curriculum and Program Development :
- Collaborate with industry partners and advisory committees to ensure curriculum relevance.
- Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessment tools tailored to student needs.
- Stay current on automotive industry trends and integrate them into the classroom.
Community and Industry Engagement :
- Build and maintain relationships with local employers, trade organizations, and community stakeholders.
- Coordinate site visits, internships, and career exploration opportunities for students.
Compliance and Safety :
- Maintain a safe and organized learning environment.
- Ensure compliance with school, district, and industry safety standards and policies.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Hold a High school Diploma or GED
- Valid certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service in either Automotive and Light Truck (Series A) or Auto Maintenance and Light Repair (Test G1)
- At least 2 years of verified occupational work experience in the field
Prefered Qualifications :
- Associates or bachelor's degree in a automotive related fields.
- Hold or be eligible to hold GaPSC Automotive tech educator certification
