Education/Experience::
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related area with at least two years of relevant experience or: high school diploma (GED) with 10 years of utility operational experience or: certification as a Journeyman Lineman with four years’ experience.
Skills/Abilities::
Excellent customer relations skills. Must maintain good public relations and good working relations with other personnel. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Certifications/Licenses::
Individuals applying for this position must possess at least two of the following certifications/licenses or be able to obtain at least two within two years of employment in the position. All six of the below certifications must be obtained as soon as allowable under state guidelines.

The ability to lift, carry, and use heavy tools and materials. The ability to climb and perform work from a ladder. The ability to use a computer keyboard effectively. The ability to safely operate a standard equipped JEA motor vehicle. The ability to operate JEA field service installation equipment. The ability to orally communicate via radio and telephone. - Prepares system reports on a monthly basis and as needed.
- Maintains essential service lists.
- Maintains various records including, but not limited to, system abnormal records, temperature records, and breaker operations records.
- Provides weather information, phone numbers, and other needed information to field personnel.
- Maintains password list for gate access in restricted areas.
- Generates and issues caution orders and hold orders.
- Operates and maintains Outage Management System.
- Produces monthly and annual Outage Report.
- Records gate station gas flow totals.
- Calculates and documents odorant usage.
- Documents metering accuracy.
- Maintains list of fire hydrants that are flushing or out of service.
- Provides climatological data as requested.
- Manages kW demand to operate water plants at peak efficiency.
- Completes sewer report.
- Operates and manages radio system.
- Monitors weather and reports conditions to crews.
- Manages phone and radio recorder system.
- Communicates with customers experiencing problems with utility services.
- Analyzes customer problems and implements procedures to resolve customer service complaints.
- Monitors building security.
- Conducts tours of area.
- Compiles data as requested for external and internal customers.
- Handles all JEA customer calls after hours.
- Uses ClickSoft and CityWorks to dispatch servicemen/crews.
- Handles fire calls and gas leak calls.
- Handles requests for gas locators.
- Assists servicemen in problem resolution.
- Directs trouble calls to appropriate call center.
- Establishes and monitors system parameters.
- Adjusts voltages to comply with system norms.
- Operates capacitor banks to achieve optimal system power factor.
- Monitors system pressures and adjusts as necessary.
- Forecasts daily system requirements to protect gas pipeline contract parameters.
- Makes recommendations on the necessity to curtail and release interruptible customers.
- Coordinates with Management on gas supply, capacity, and curtailment issues.
- Operates water plants to meet projected demands and estimates daily water usage.
- Adjusts chemical feeds to meet objectives/targets established by the W/WW Operations Manager.
- Reports system changes to appropriate personnel.
- Operates water plant to maintain pressure and storage.
- Monitors wastewater treatment plants after hours.
- Calls appropriate wastewater personnel to resolve problems.
- Coordinates operations with outside entities.
- Obtains information from TVA, Texas Gas, and ANR for safe system operation.
- Prepares and issues switching orders for electric and valving orders for gas and water.
- Authorizes operation of system switches and/or valves.
- Manages the safe operation of all systems.
- Identifies load problems.
- Recommends changes to system configuration.
- Designs operation slides for SCADA.
- Assesses situational needs.
- Communicates effectively in coordinating restoration efforts.
- Researches system drawings for measurements and locates as requested.
- Maintains call-out lists for all departments.
- Identifies and reports inaccuracies to appropriate field personnel.
- Updates system maps and mosaic board as changes occur in field.
- Manages emergency response implementation.
- Manages preparation and updates of the Emergency Response Manual.
- Maintains and operates the voltage reduction system.
- Works with SCADA vendor to troubleshoot, optimize, and add to the system.
- Operates CMB customer database to generate and troubleshoot orders.
- Manages the Outage Board on SharePoint.
- Maintains and updates the Emergency Load Curtailment Plan.
- Manages the TurboNet radio system software.
- Performs other duties as needed.
