Position at Jackson Family Wines
As a Harvest Enologist, you will provide winemaking, technical, cellar and supervisory support to the winemaking team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with Cellar Manager and production team on daily cellar activities
- Understand and implement various winemaking protocols and techniques
- Review harvest SOPs (additions, yeast rehydration, pump overs etc.)
- Train and supervise seasonal staff as needed
- Monitor and manage primary fermentation, juice and wine racks
- Interpret daily lab analysis and reports
- Follow daily quality control checks and protocols
- Participate in data collection and summary
- Provide data entry support
- Participate in sensory analysis of quality control
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Enology, Fermentation Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or related field
- Three years' experience in laboratory/wine production required
- Supervisory experience and knowledge of current viticulture research and literature preferred
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently and with others
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills in Word and Excel required
- Spanish language skills desired but not required
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, occasionally reach with hands and arms, sit, walk, climb, stoop or kneel, and lift and carry up to 50 lbs
