Seasonal Hybrid Cellar/Lab Tech – La Crema Winery

We are located in the heart of the Russian River Valley of Northern California with over 40 years of history producing acclaimed Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. More recently, we added Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon to the portfolio making La Crema winery a great place to learn the fundamentals of winemaking. We pride ourselves in our hands on approach to winemaking that results in remarkable wines.
Under the general direction of the Cellar Manager and Lab Director, successful applicants will have the opportunity to learn the harvest process including Fermentation Management, Lab Analyses, and Barrel Operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform quality work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures and safety protocols.
- Perform daily checks and calibrations for safety equipment and laboratory instrumentation.
- Participate in maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the cellar and laboratory.
- Monitor tank and barrel fermentations.
- Collect samples from tanks and barrels during fermentation.
- Racking and pumping of juice and wine; moving hoses and equipment.
- Red fermentation management – pump overs, punch-downs, delestage.
- Additions to juice/wine.
- Filling barrels.
- Operating cellar equipment like pumps, presses etc.
- Forklift operation, moving barrels and case goods.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Background and Experience:
The ability to communicate effectively with good skills in reading, writing and basic math are required. Must be able to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules and procedures, and be able to read cellar work orders, count barrels, record times and dates. Individuals selected for this position must be reliable, punctual and have a good work ethic. Being bilingual is a plus. Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime.
Physical Demands:
This position requires the ability to reach with hands and arms, sit, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, and to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Pay Range
$18.50 - $21 - $23.50 per hour
Salary : $2 - $9
