What are the responsibilities and job description for the Foam/Fiber Cutter position at Jackson Furniture Co?
SUMMARY OF THE POSITION: Fiber and Foam Cutters work to keep production workers stocked with appropriately sized foam pieces for cushion production. This position requires a close attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while balancing accuracy, limiting waste, and ensuring safety.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- 1 Takes cushion order for the following day’s production and breaks it down by foam type, size, and quantity.
- 2 Keeps accurate count of what has been done and what still needs to be done in order to reduce undercutting and overcutting.
- 3 Involves sorting through many patterns and drawing/tracing.
- 4 Uses scrap foam at any and all opportunities to help eliminate waste.
- 5 Completes order in a timely manner. Groups similar cuts together to help maximize efficiency.
- 6 Pushes cut blocks to the next operation, horizontal slitter, to prepare them for the production line.
EDUCATIONAL AND OTHER SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- 1 High school diploma preferred.
- 2 Previous Bandsaw experience preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- 1. Ability to read, write, count, and do basic math.
- 2 Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- 3 Must perform job with safety as a top priority.
- 4 Must be able to stand on feet all day (8–10-hour shifts).
- 5 Ability to show up to work on-time, every day, and take direction from supervisor(s).
- 6 Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. repetitively on a daily basis.
