Position Summary:
The Patient Logistics Coordinator works under direction and supervision with the Hospital Flow Coordinator, Nurse Managers, Associate Nurse Managers, and Directors to ensure that each nursing unit receives patients that are appropriate for that specific unit. Coordinates assignments for tracking boards, PM Office, throughput of ICU, OR, Recovery, Resus, Procedural areas, ED, Med/Surg, direct admits, and internal transfers. With indirect supervision, the coordinator facilitates patient flow through patient movement, environmental services support, bed ahead strategy and bed priority management. The Patient Logistics Coordinator assists nursing management with coordinating staffing calendar and maintaining appropriate staffing grid on every shift. Under supervision, coordinates staffing utilizing CSO pool and Per Diem staff and Agency personnel through contracts and Per Diems. Responsible for sitter allocation and management. Assists nursing leadership with verification of the skill sets and verifies that staff are licensed and compliant with all requirements. Assists with the onboarding and ongoing competency of all personnel to ensure patient safety.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Coordinate the assignment of patient care beds across the hospital. Documents bed placement activities in Electronic Tracking System in a timely and accurate manner. Professional communication, acts as a liaison between and with physicians, patient/family, hospital staff and patient care areas, and with outside agencies in an effort to promote efficient patient flow. Evaluates all bed requests using approved criteria, for level of care orders and bed assignments. Views hospital bed status at a glance, drilling down to the nursing unit level, thus ensuring patients are admitted to the correct department from the outset, improving patient care with faster and safer outcomes. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience:
Generally requires 1 to 3 years of related experience.
Education:
High school required. Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred.
License Certification:
Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.
