Summary
Medical Secretary 2 performs complex secretarial work requiring dictation for physicians in charge of medical or psychiatric areas within hospital departments or other medical activities of equivalent scope. Responsibilities include performance of a variety of secretarial and clerical tasks, frequent review the work of other clerical employees and occasional supervision of the work of others.
Responsibilities
Takes dictation and finalizes complex correspondence involving medical, financial, and legal matters. Provides the secretarial support to the attending physicians in clinical pathology Transcribes and/or types patient medical reports describing various pathological conditions and diagnoses. Demonstrates proficiency in the use of appropriate equipment. Participates Performance Improvement activities. Maintains and updates files, records and reports. Performs the duties of other medical secretaries in their absence. Compiles these reports/data into departmental aggregate reports whenever indicated and submits these reports to the appropriate departments/ supervisors. Produces accurate outcomes and results according to age specific standard operating procedures. Completes work assignments within defined time limits. Coordinates the dissemination or collection of specific information/reports from/to the supervisory staff. Uses extensive knowledge of medical terminology in deciphering handwritten medical correspondence and typing it into the final appropriate format. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
Experience
Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.
Education
High School diploma is required.
Skill
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.

Working Conditions
Physical Requirements - Job function is sedentary in nature and requires sitting for extended periods of time. Function may require frequent standing or walking. Must be able to lift or carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
