JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Electrician
REPORTS TO: Electrical Manager
DEPARTMENT: Electrical
CLASSIFICATION: Year Round Full Time
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
GENERAL PURPOSE
Trouble-shooting problems with and maintaining all lift control systems, telecommunication systems, computer network cabling, snowmaking equipment and installation of new wiring and equipment as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist in providing, through an electrical maintenance program, the safest possible lift equipment for use by the general public.
- Record all electrical maintenance performed on the standard departmental work order forms, with as much detailed information as possible.
- Use assigned tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Must be in the learning stage of knowing the mechanical and operational aspects of all Aerial Tram and lift equipment as follows:
- Inspecting, replacing and adjusting all electrical components.
- Start-up procedures of all individual lifts including the Tram.
- Emergency procedures for each individual lift including the Tram. This is to include:
- Converting from electric drive to stand-by and back again.
- Purpose and function of all lift related safety systems.
- Actual de-ropement procedures on any lift.
- Wind and extreme cold procedures.
Assist in trouble-shooting all electrical related malfunctions in the lift system.
Assist in maintaining an adequate inventory of electrical replacement parts and supplies.
Assist in the design and/or installation of any new drive units, low voltage controls, modifications to or replacement of any existing electrical systems.
Assist in providing adequate training for lift mechanics to trouble-shoot and repair minor electrical malfunctions.
Assist in coordinating new installations and/or repair work with outside electrical contractors.
Provide seven days a week coverage for electrical malfunctions during public operation for all lifts.
Perform other duties as required.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Assist in maintaining and repairing the PBX equipment.
- Program PBX, such as adding and subtracting phone numbers and phone functions.
- Install new phone extensions including all inside and outside wiring to phone sets.
- Assist in maintaining all inside and outside wiring including splicing of all size cable.
- Assist in trouble-shooting all problems with above equipment and cables.
- Maintain records of cable runs, telephone locations, pedestal locations, etc.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of all tools and supplies related to the maintenance and expansion of existing telephone system.
- In general, to perform all functions necessary for dependable telephone communication within the company.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY:
- Ability to work at heights.
- Must be fully versed in all electrical aspects and maintenance requirements of existing
lift equipment. - Proficient skier/ Snowboarder
- Completion of Journeyman Apprentice Program or similar in-depth training program.
EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:
- High school.
- On the job training.
- Ski Industry Training Seminars.
- Specialized Training (Electronics, Programming, Data, Phone)
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 2 years lift electrical experience or a Journeyman Electrician.
MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:
- Mountain and shop environment.
- Heavy Equipment. ( loader, back hoe, forklift)
- Computers.
- Trucks, ATV's, Snowmobiles and Snowcats.
- Multi meter
- Scope meter
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
- Must be able to climb Lift and Tram tower ladders. (Ranging from 5 ft. to 200 ft.)
- Must be able to stand and work on platforms, railings, structural steel beams, etc. for up to 3 hrs. At a time.
- Must be able to accomplish item #2 at heights ranging from 5 ft. to 200 ft. above the ground.
- Must be able to access and ride moving carriers, such as work chairs, tram carriages, and/or other units attached to a lift system for maintaining line equipment.
- Must be able to suspend oneself in an approved safety harness and remain suspended for periods of up to one hour.
- Must be able to successfully self-evacuate from a stranded chair or the Aerial Tram.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. (min.) on a daily basis.
- Must be able to adequately drive a 4-wheel drive pick-up truck in mountain type terrain with trips of up to one hour.
- Must be able to safely operate heavy equipment, snow grooming equipment, snowmobiles, and 4-wheel A.T.V.'s
- Must be able to perform all of the above listed duties in extreme weather conditions.
