What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor Accounts Payable position at Jackson Hospital and Clinic?
- Oversees reports regarding cash flow; ensures correct payments are made in a timely manner.
- Develops guidelines for proper handling and coding of invoices to maintain general ledger expense account and inventory records.
- Analyzes expense reports and other invoices for accuracy and eligibility for payment.
- Verifies payments before controller's approval is added by reviewing checks and vouchers.
- Prepare and review professional fees each month.
- Facilitates correct and timely preparation of budget reports and purchase journals.
- Reconciles accounts payable total and general ledger with other applicable records.
- Ensures proper recordkeeping of purchases for use in tax preparation and periodic audits.
- Ensures employer identification numbers or social security numbers have been collected from all vendors for the AP Clerks to prepare and submit 1099s
- Ensures proper maintenance, filing and storage of records in case of audits.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
A. Education: BS degree in Accounting or Business Administration
B. Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in accounting/finance; experience with PC's and related software (word processing and spreadsheets).
C. Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: CPA preferred.
D. Equipment/Tools/Work Aids: Calculator, personal computer software, telephone, copier and fax.
E. Specialized Skills: Proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing software; working knowledge of accounting principles and functions; ability to compile financial statements, reports and analysis; excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to lead and manage a group of employees; ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions.
F. Physical Requirements: Ability to handle various office reports, notebooks, files or file folders on a daily basis. Occasional use of year-to-date/cumulative type reports requiring lifting of approximately 15-20 pounds. Manual dexterity and visual acuity necessary to utilize the PC and calculator; visual acuity also necessary for filing and proofing documents; ability to sit for prolonged periods of time; verbal communications and hearing ability to communicate
with a multitude of customers. Ability to meet the attendance requirements of the job.
