Job Description
The Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner works in collaboration with hospital physicians to manage care for patients with stable and chronic illnesses. Orders, interprets and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Makes patient rounds. Additionally, the Nurse Practitioner – Hospitalist plans and coordinates rehabilitation, home health care and follow-up services for patients with acute health issues.
Requirements
Education: Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program; National certification with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Requires a master’s degree. Experience: Previous work experience preferred. Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Current licensure State of Alabama, CRNP. Equipment/Tools/Work Aids: Equipment used in the delivery of health care. Specialized Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills required, as well as leadership and organizational abilities. An individual who is self-directed and who will accept accountability for actions. Physical Requirements: Intermittent standing, sitting, reaching and walking. Visual and hearing acuity, occasional assisting of patients in and out of chairs and onto exam tables.
