Job Description
FT 6:30 am-5:00 pm with call rotation
The Surgical Technologist-First Assistant (ST-FA) functions under the direct supervision of the attending surgeon when functioning in the first assistant role and under a Registered Nurse (RN) when functioning as an Operating Technician (ORT). The A-FA performs assistive and delegated functions depending on their role at the time. In the ST-FA role they may help position the patient, provide visualization during the surgical procedure, assist in hemostasis, assist with wound closure and perform skin closure, inject post operative local anesthetic agent as directed by the surgeon, secure wound drains, apply wound dressing, and participate in the transfer and transport of the patient to the post operative destination.
Requirements
Completion of accredited Surgical Tec First Assist Program, BLS and certification. Experience preferred.
