Description:
The Accountant assists in the organization and maintenance of the Accounts Payable System as well as the planning and implementation of changes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Composes and enters journal entries including Contractual, prepaid, cap lease, ACH download, 340B accrual, P/R accrual, ATO accrual, and Cerner reclass.
- Enters journal entry into system to record payroll data.
- Records various bank deposits as needed.
- Completes reconciliations for revenue, payroll, ATO, and Cash (deposits posted)
- Reviews payables for posting accuracy.
- Conducts reports for DSH.
- Generates UPL reports.
- Assists with preparing 1099s.
- Submits Medicare CR Bal reports.
- Performs other assigned duties as necessary to support the Accounting department or as assigned by supervisor
- Always maintains and ensures patient confidentiality.
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time frames.
- Attends staff meetings as scheduled.
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Adheres to JPH policies and procedures.

Requirements:EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School graduate or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required; or currently enrolled in bachelor’s degree program
- Minimum of (3) years of related work experience in Accounting preferred. Experience in a hospital setting preferred.

- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Requires the ability to perform mathematical calculations and statistical analyses.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work alone or with minimal supervision.
- Professional/Courteous rapport with patients, families, co-workers, physicians, and visitors.
- Ability to work under and handle stress in an appropriate manner.
- Ability to work long hours between breaks and meals, if necessary.
- Strong computer competency. Knowledgeable with Microsoft products required.
MACHINERY/TOOLS/EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot telephone, fax machine, calculator, copy machine, computer, and printer/scanner.
