As we continue to expand, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team.
Job Summary: The Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for both residential and commercial construction projects. This position requires a strong understanding of construction processes, material costs, labor, and project scheduling. The ideal candidate will have experience working on a wide range of construction projects, from residential homes to small commercial developments, and possess strong analytical and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Review project plans, specifications, and blueprints to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for both residential and commercial construction projects.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary project data and specifications.
Analyze labor, material, and equipment requirements for each project and prepare detailed cost breakdowns.
Obtain quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing and timely delivery of materials and services.
Identify potential risks or challenges in the project scope and recommend solutions to mitigate them.
Prepare detailed bid proposals and present them to clients, ensuring clear communication of scope, costs, and timelines.
Work closely with the project management team to ensure estimates align with project timelines, budgets, and client expectations.
Track and adjust estimates as project requirements change or additional information becomes available.
Maintain an up-to-date database of costs for materials, labor, and subcontractor services for future project reference.
Stay current with industry trends, construction materials, and technologies to ensure estimates reflect the latest standards and practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a construction estimator, with a focus on both residential and commercial projects.
Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Xactimate, Buildertrend, or similar platforms).
Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.
Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical drawings.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with value engineering and cost optimization strategies.
Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
Proficiency with Chief Architect software is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to visit job sites to assess project requirements and gather necessary information.
Occasional lifting or carrying of materials or equipment up to 25 lbs.
