Title: Executive Director of the Jackson State Community College Foundation
Job Summary
To provide leadership to the Jackson State Community College Foundation in developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising program that supports the College’s mission, enhances college programs and student success and strengthens the College’s financial base. The Executive Director works in concert with the President in fundraising, resource development and is the liaison between the Foundation and the College.
Job Duties
Directs all external fundraising through development of business, industry, and community donor prospects.
Cultivates relationships with members of the College, Foundation Board of Trustees and external constituents to build, sustain and support the College’s mission.
Leads donor development, retention, and recognition.
Sustains college/alumni relations through solicitation campaigns and other communications.
Coordinates special fundraising events.
Develop an annual fundraising plan to support the college’s strategic plan and program improvement objectives.
Provides a vital communication link between the Foundation Board and the College.
Supports the Foundation Board and designated Board committee operations; develops agendas, related documentation and minutes for meetings.
Promotes the College and the Foundation among internal and external constituencies.
Serve as the Foundation’s primary advocate and spokesperson in the local and regional community and, therefore, increase awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the Foundation and the Jackson State Community College mission.
Provides oversight of financial records and processes on all donations and gifts to the College Foundation.
Develops, recommends, and administers policies, procedures and processes in support of Foundation goals and operations, in accordance with relevant legal parameters, and implements and monitors compliance with approved policies, procedures, and processes.
Develops and monitors departmental budget.
Provides guidance to the President on donor development and community relations.
Serves on the President’s Cabinet
Performs additional duties as assigned

Pay Rate: $82,257 - $102,822 (Annual salary depending on eligible experience, which is defined by the current compensation plan.)

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Five (5) years of proven experience in successful fundraising, including demonstrated experience in securing major gifts, grants or other sources of funding for a non-profit organization.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ supervisory experience
- Master’s Degree
- Experience fundraising for an institution of higher education.
- Experience leading or working with a volunteer board of directors.
- Experience writing or managing grants.
- Ability to effectively analyze data and inquiries, think critically, and make appropriate decisions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work as part of a team or work alone without close supervision
- Demonstrated knowledge of solicitation strategies, program development and fundraising, as well as experience articulating values, information, and compelling cases to prospective donors.
- Ability and willingness to raise funds.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with a diverse group of individuals and groups.
- Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- A working knowledge of relational databases and/or prospect management/donation tracking systems, such as Raiser’s Edge or similar system.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends and attend special functions, as needed.
