Description
The Department of Public Safety is accepting applications for its Certified Police Officer position. The Certified Police Officer is responsible for patrolling designated areas of the campus to enforce the University rules and regulations.
Examples of Duties
- Report to the Sergeant or shift Lieutenant.
- Patrol designated areas of the campus to enforce the University rules and regulations.
- Work cooperatively with other campus units to safeguard the person(s) and property of the University.
- Must be willing to work various shifts.
- Write reports.
- Able to meet and greet the public while exercising courtesy and professionalism.
Typical Qualifications
- Applicant must have a High School Diploma or GED, plus two years of college or with at least 60 college hours toward a degree.
- Applicant must have prior experience in law enforcement or similar roles preferred.
- Applicant must demonstrate oral and written communication skills and the potential to exhibit control in crises.
- Applicant must be able to stand on his/her feet ninety-five (95%) of the time while performing duties.
- Applicant must be able to pass all job-related tests measuring physical and mental abilities as required by the minimum Standards and Training.
