Position Summary
The Department of University Communications at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its Junior Graphic Designer position. This position is based in the University Communications Department and may require occasional evening and weekend work for events or urgent projects. Qualifications
Minimum Required Education
Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum Required Experience
Experience with Canva template creations for university stakeholders.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and other design tools.
- Basic understanding of web design a plus.
- Strong creative and conceptual thinking skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Prior experience in a higher educational environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and design of print and digital materials, including brochures, posters, social media graphics, web elements, and event collateral.
- Collaborate with the Creative Director and other team members to ensure cohesive visual branding across all projects.
- Support in the preparation of artwork for production, including file formatting, and quality checks.
- Assist with photo editing, retouching, and visual adjustments to maintain brand consistency.
- Create designs for university events, internal communications, and marketing campaigns.
- Work with university stakeholders to understand project goals and deliver visually effective solutions.
- Stay updated with design trends, tools, and software advancements to ensure the University’ s visual content remains contemporary.
- Contribute to brainstorming sessions for creative campaigns and marketing initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned by the Creative Director.
