Examples of Duties
Design and perform the experiments under the guidance of the supervisor.
Analyze, evaluate, and interpret the data.
Write progress reports and prepare results for publication and dissemination.
Write manuscripts for publications as well as research proposals for grant applications.
Present research findings to colleagues in group meetings, departmental seminars, and at conferences.
Operates and maintains sophisticated laboratory scientific equipment.
Actively participate as a member of a research team.
Order research supplies and manage lab instruments.
Participate with the supervisor to mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
Participate in teaching a class for undergraduate students under the supervision of the supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Typical Qualifications
Ph.D. in Chemistry or other closely related discipline by the start date.
Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to research.
Have strong oral and written communication skills.
Able to work collaboratively with graduate and undergraduate students as well as with the PI and other faculty members.
