Schedule: Monday - Friday with occasional weekends and after-hours on-call availability.
The Role:
The Food Plant Maintenance Coordinator will safely maintain, repair, & optimize our food plant packaging equipment while managing the Preventative Maintenance and spare parts inventory programs. The food plant packaging equipment generally includes power equipment, conveyers, flow wrapper machines, labelers/label applicators, and metal detectors. This position reports to the Food Plant Production Supervisor and works closely with other departments. The Food Plant Maintenance Coordinator is expected to reliably operate with minimal supervision and extreme ownership of the maintenance program.
Job Responsibilities:
Works as a team to ensure the facility is clean, safe, and functional.
Ensure the safe operation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of electrical and mechanical systems and equipment.
Establish preventative maintenance program and schedules and perform all PM work.
Maintain organized inventory of tools, spare parts, and other supplies. Responsible for logging time, materials, and other costs.
Interpret and understand specifications and operating/maintenance manuals.
Ensure food product integrity through proper execution of the HACCP System.
Lead safety and continuous improvement initiatives by proposing policies and assisting in writing procedure manuals and trainings.
Own communication of all appropriate information regarding system operation and maintenance to all department supervisors and the leadership team.
Working Conditions: This role requires a moderate amount of movement to meet production rates. An individual in this role will be working around various types of food while maintaining food packaging equipment. They will also perform office-type duties which will require sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The position will require general physical movements such as walking, standing, lifting, bending, twisting, and reaching. Environmental conditions include cold, wet, allergen, noise, and fume / chemical / odor exposure from raw materials and sanitation chemicals.
Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED.
Previous experience working in a food production factory.
Previous flow wrapper experience is preferred.
Technical school education preferred but not required.
2 years of work-related experience with food packaging equipment repair and maintenance.
Mechanical troubleshooting experience.
Experience working with Maintenance scheduling/inventory software like Fluke E-Maintenance is preferred.
Able to use Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
Excellent organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to stay productive and positive with minimal oversight.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Available for shift work and occasional after-hours calls.
Will be required to remove Piercings, Jewelry, etc. in compliance with USDA food safety protocols.
Must read, write, and speak fluent English.
Bilingual a plus.
