Job Summary:
As a Referral Specialist / Scheduler, you will play a key role in ensuring seamless communication between our patients and healthcare providers. You will manage the referral process, schedule patient appointments, and provide outstanding customer service. The role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process patient referrals and accurately enter information into the scheduling system.
- Schedule appointments for patients with various specialists and healthcare providers.
- Communicate appointment details to patients and ensure all necessary information is provided.
- Follow up with patients regarding missed appointments and reschedule as needed.
- Coordinate with insurance companies to verify coverage and obtain authorization for appointments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the scheduling system.
- Resolve scheduling conflicts and provide solutions to ensure patient appointments are efficiently managed.
- Provide excellent customer service by answering patient inquiries, addressing concerns, and ensuring satisfaction.
- Collaborate with medical staff and providers to ensure proper coordination of care and appointments.
- Assist with other administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Prior experience in a medical office, healthcare setting, or related field is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with scheduling software.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
