What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director - Communications position at Jacksonville Transportation Authority?
Brief Description of Work:
Under the general direction of the AVP of MarCom and Customer Experience, the Director of Communications is a strategic and tactical manager acting as a trusted advisor to JTA. It is a critical role that will work closely across all departments to foster a culture of collaborative communication and messaging, both internally and externally, for JTA. The position will also develop and execute comprehensive communication plans, evaluate, and advise on CEO communication requests, opportunities, executive speech writing and presentation preparation. The position will manage a team of three members of the multi-media team and three professional service contracts.
Essential Functions:
Oversee the development and execution of internal and external communication plans, designed to support the Authority’s overall business objectives, including Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center at Lavilla (JRTC), JTA MobilityWorks, U2C, ridership campaigns and other major projects and programs of the Authority.
Development of executive briefing materials, presentations and keynote addresses, video scripts, social media management and other communications, as needed.
Create new communications programs designed to advance the Authority’s priorities and focus areas. Develop the processes, tools and resources to scale the communications function and meet future needs.
Complete all mandatory training classes
Review and comply with all JTA policies, procedures and directives
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or Public Administration
Minimum of 5 to 10 years progressive experience, including senior level functional leadership responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or Public Administration Experience in government sector
Past transportation or logistics experience
