Brief Description of Work:
Under supervision of the Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis, conducts research, analyzes data and reviews financial records while assisting FP&A Manager by preparing financial models for short and long-term projections; responsible for ad-hoc research and analysis projects assigned. The FP&A team provides the highest-level financial services to the Jacksonville Transportation Authority executive management. The team assists business leaders in achieving JTA goals by providing multi-year forecasts, performing financial analysis and reporting divisional unit performance.
Essential Function(s):
- Retrieve, consolidate and analyze financial data (budgets, income statements, forecasts, etc.) taking into account the company’s goals and financial standing
- Assist the Manager with annual budget package
- Develop financial models, conduct business studieson past, future,and comparative performance as well as develop forecast models and financial dashboards
- Maximize usage of technology in reporting, projections and analysis
- Conduct research and analytical studies on a variety of programs and issues; draft reports based on research findings; make recommendations to management
- Analyze monthly financial results and identify key variance drivers to prepare variance analysis and explanations, also to be used to determine present and future financial performance
- Prepare and submit accurate financial and operational information as required for the National Transit Database (NTD) annual submission in the NTD Reporting System
- Develop policies and procedures; establish internal controls and procedures to ensure validity, authenticity and legality of expenditures
- Facilitate and/or conduct meetings on behalf of department manager Complete various additional financial related projects as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, economics or a closely related field from an accredited college of university.
A minimum of 2-3 years professional financial model and analytical experience.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree or professional certification a plus. Proficiency with Oracle 11.5 or above is preferred. Industry knowledge is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Familiarity with SQL and Power BI is advantageous. Understanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping methods. Proficiency in calculating and analyzing financial data.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, including Pivot Tables and Macros.
- Experience in extracting data from various sources and creating detailed, organized reports. Outstanding skills in presentation, reporting, and communication.
- Competence in making decisions and demonstrating resourcefulness in problem-solving.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
The Financial Analyst works within an office environment where the noise level is usually quiet. This role may be required to work late evenings or partial weekends. Physical demands may include:
