Brief Description :
Under the direction of Director - Fixed Route Vehicles, the Maintenance Supervisor - Fixed Route supervises mechanics, service station employees, technicians or clerical staff in the maintenance of equipment.
Essential Function(s) :
- Responsible for assigning work to mechanics, service station employees, technicians and clerical staff who are engaged in the maintenance and repair of equipment.
- Schedule daily work assignments and maintain daily work sheets. Prepare and prioritize assigned work orders. Report and record equipment defects.
- Review work in progress and perform quality control inspections weekly and assure that the preventive maintenance program is progressing according to schedule.
- Assist department staff by answering questions and providing information relating to methods and procedures to be used. Assist mechanics in diagnosis and training. Perform cross training of jobs where feasible.
- Maintain a variety of computerized records and prepare reports of work performed, materials used, fuel usage, daily reports, and work orders.
- Maintain the shop and work area in a safe and neat manner.
- Supervise and maintain records of repairs and daily reports according to established procedures.
- Coordinate bus pull outs with the Dispatcher.
- Conduct meetings with employees concerning work and communications.
- Conform with all safety rules and wear / use all appropriate safety equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

The Maintenance Supervisor - Fixed Route is a position primarily located in a maintenance environment with essential functions being performed in both a shop environment and possibly outside in various weather conditions around moving vehicles and equipment. The position requires collaboration with colleagues. The incumbent may be required to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to respond to emergencies or to meet operational needs. Physical demands may include : lifting and carrying boxes or other objects weighing up to 50 pounds, repetitive motion and standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
