JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Impact Measurement and Evaluation is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing data collection, analysis, and reporting across all Riis Settlement programs. Working closely with program and organizational leadership, this position ensures that data-driven insights support program improvement, service delivery, constituent engagement, and policy advocacy. Additionally, the Director monitors the progress of Riis' five-year strategic plan using the OKR framework, collaborates with the Executive Director and senior leadership, and generates quarterly updates on the strategic plan’s progress, which are presented to the Board of Directors with the Executive Director’s support. This role also supervises the Data Associate, leads the development of performance measurement frameworks, and manages and optimizes data systems, including Excel and PlanStreet. Additionally, the Director fosters a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organization and participates in cross-functional committees that support key organizational priorities. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with experience in change management and the ability to effectively communicate data-related insights in a clear and accessible manner to a wide range of stakeholders.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Performance Measurement & Monitoring
- Lead the organization’s efforts to develop and implement performance measurement and monitoring strategies, ensuring alignment with Riis Settlement’s mission and program goals.
- Collaborate with program leaders and staff at all levels to design and deploy effective data collection tools and performance metrics across programs.
- Conduct ongoing data analysis to evaluate program outcomes and inform decision-making.
- Provide guidance and support to staff on data interpretation, ensuring that insights from program evaluations are translated into actionable recommendations.
- Develop and present regular reports to internal constituents and funders, communicating the organization's impact and outcomes.
Monitoring the Strategic Plan Progress
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and senior leadership to monitor the progress of Riis' five-year strategic plan, using the OKR framework to track key objectives and results.
- Regularly assess and report on the achievement of strategic goals, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
- Generate quarterly updates on the strategic plan’s progress, working with the Executive Director to present these updates to the Board of Directors.
- Work with teams to adjust and refine objectives and key results as needed, ensuring continuous progress toward long-term organizational success.
Database and Data Systems Management
- Oversee the management of data infrastructure, ensuring that data systems, including Excel and PlanStreet, are effectively configured and optimized for program use, reporting, and data analysis.
- Collaborate with IT and external vendors to design and maintain efficient data systems that support program operations and performance tracking.
- Ensure that data security, privacy, and compliance standards are met across all data systems and processes.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for system users, providing support and training as needed.
Training and Capacity Building
- Develop and promote organizational policies and procedures for data management and reporting, ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Lead training initiatives for staff on data collection, performance measurement tools, and data quality assurance.
- Provide ongoing coaching and capacity-building opportunities to program leaders and staff to enhance their data literacy and use of data in program improvement.
Supervision of Data Associate
- Supervise the Data Associate, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality data collection, entry, and reporting.
- Foster a collaborative and productive team environment to help the Data Associate grow professionally and effectively contribute to organizational goals.
- Ensure that the Data Associate receives the necessary training and resources to perform their duties to a high standard.
Strategic Leadership and Stakeholder Collaboration
- As a member of both the senior leadership team and Riis' Cabinet, collaborate with leadership on strategic direction and organizational priorities.
- Integrate data-driven insights into organizational strategy and decision-making to ensure the achievement of long-term goals.
Participation in Organizational Committees
- As a senior leadership team member, actively participate in various organizational committees to drive cross-functional collaboration, contribute to key decision-making processes, and support the advancement of organizational priorities.
Other Duties
- Stay up-to-date with trends in data management, performance measurement, and nonprofit sector best practices to continuously improve the organization’s data capabilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
STATEMENT OF SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with at least three years of experience in human services, program evaluation, or a similar field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
- Strong mixed-methods background and analytical skills, experience with data management and relational databases
- Experience developing, designing, or enhancing data management systems.
- Experience using PlanStreet or similar case management/data tracking systems is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to translate complex topics using non-technical terms to staff at all levels
- Exceptional attention to detail, highly organized, with excellent project management and organizational skills
- Experience with data visualization, information design, and workflow design
