JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a dedicated PACT (Parent and Child Together Time) Teacher to join our Family Literacy Program. The PACT Teacher will facilitate interactive, family-centered learning sessions designed to strengthen the parent-child relationship, promote literacy, and foster the educational development of both parents and children. The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood education, family engagement, and empowering immigrant families through intergenerational learning experiences.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead engaging and interactive "Parent and Child Together Time" sessions, where parents and their young children participate in joint educational activities that promote language development, literacy, and family bonding.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager, ESOL Teacher, and two counselors to develop and implement a curriculum that integrates family literacy, child development, and parent engagement practices.
- Foster a welcoming and supportive environment for families, encouraging active participation from parents and children in learning activities.
- Provide parents with strategies and tools to support their children's literacy development and educational growth at home.
- Create culturally inclusive learning experiences that reflect the diverse backgrounds of families in the program.
- Tailor lessons to the developmental needs of young children, focusing on early literacy, cognitive development, and social-emotional learning.
- Track the progress of both parents and children, providing feedback and support to ensure learning goals are met.
- Work closely with the ESOL Teacher to align PACT activities with the overall Family Literacy Program, supporting a holistic approach to family learning.
- Assist with collecting and maintaining data on program participation and outcomes to help assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications
Statement of Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Social Work, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with children and families, preferably in a community-based or non-profit setting.
- Proficiency in Spanish (spoken and written) is required for this position.
- Strong understanding of early childhood development and literacy education.
- Experience working with immigrant families and a strong understanding of cultural diversity in learning environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children and adults.
- Familiarity with literacy programs and family engagement best practices.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
