What are the responsibilities and job description for the Entry Level - Geotechnical / Construction Material Testing Technician position at Jacobi Geotechnical Engineering, Inc.?
Jacobi Geotechnical Engineering is currently hiring to fill a geotechnical/construction testing technician position. The candidate(s) will work with the construction group manager and other technicians to perform field testing on soil, rock, and concrete materials.
We are looking for individuals who are willing to contribute to improve and grow the company, are self-motivated and ambitious, and can work independently as well as be part of a team.
We are willing to train candidates who are a good personality fit for our team and who have the potential to grow with our engineering firm.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Construction/geotechnical testing technician duties will include the following:
- Perform laboratory testing under the direction of the laboratory manager and engineers.
- Perform field testing on soil, rock, aggregate, and concrete materials.
- Field testing will include concrete field testing and sampling, and field density testing on soil and rock.
- Prepare logs of field data.
- Interact and communicate with field representatives, project managers, and office staff on a daily basis.
- Observation and document construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications.
SKILLS
- Basic knowledge of construction and earth related materials.
- Proficient in handwriting and data collection/documentation.
- Ability to analyze data and identify trends or anomalies.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify defects or non-compliance.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
REQUIREMENTS
- Applicant must be currently authorized to work in the United States and pass a background check.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel to job sites.
- Capable of lifting, carrying, and loading test equipment, soil samples, concrete samples (minimum of 30 pounds).
- Available for occasional work on Saturdays.
