Under the direct supervision of the Direct Services Manager, the Senior Food Program Supervisor performs a wide variety of routine to moderately difficult responsible and specialized administrative and program-related duties in support of the Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank’s operations, including, encourage active participation in California’s Commodity Supplemental Food Program and other federal programs aimed at reducing hunger in San Diego County.

- Promote and create countywide awareness of Senior Food Program.
- Educate residents in the county on how to apply, obtain and retain Senior Food Program benefits, as well as demonstrate how to use the benefits and teach about healthy food choices.
- Train agency partners, staff, and volunteers on the Senior Food Program application process; and monitor affiliate participation and assure full compliance with all regulations governing the Senior Food Program.
- Offer interpretation and assistance to facilitate client access to Senior Food Program information and services.
- Keep accurate, detailed records and progress reports on information distributed, contacts and services provided as required. Prepare monthly reports on program and participation.
- Arrange and conduct Senior Food Program presentations, enrollment clinics, workshops and trainings to new and current community-based partners.
- Create and establish new partnerships/collaborations that will help expand our countywide efforts.
- Responsible for supervising all Senior Food Program Coordinators, coordinating their schedules, approving their time, handling performance discussions and ensuring personal and professional goals are met.
- Ensure all Senior Food Program staff have necessary equipment to perform daily functions out in the field as well as troubleshoot any equipment issues.
- Distribute culturally and linguistically appropriate materials particularly targeting Spanish, Tagalog, Chinese, Russian, Vietnamese, and Chaldean/Middle Eastern speaking immigrant communities.
- Provide Senior Food Program follow up to all clients assisted and advocate as needed.
- Assist Director of Programs and VP of Operations during USDA/CA Department of Social Services program audits.
- Ensure Senior Food Program Coordinators and volunteers are following Senior Food Program policies and procedures, as well as ensuring that signatures are received from each client, or authorized proxy, when receiving a food box.
- Refer participants and non-participants to other food assistance programs such as CalFresh, EFAP, and Neighborhood Produce Distribution.
- Recruit and train community agency staff, volunteers and interns on the importance of increasing Senior Food Program participation among their client base.
- Participate in other activities and program events like Food Bank University, Volunteer Luncheon, etc.
- Some (infrequent) evening and weekend shifts may be required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Graduation from high school or a G.E.D. equivalent.
- 2 years’ experience performing administrative duties and/or supervisory duties preferably in a nonprofit setting.
- Equivalent combination of experience and training would be considered.

COMPENSATION
- This is a full-time, non-exempt/hourly/benefited position.
- A market-level competitive salary is between $27.00 - $29.00 per hour based on experience.

WORK SCHEDULE

- Typical schedule is Monday – Friday, 8am – 4:30pm.
