As our newest team member, you’ll play a key role in the development of design plans, specifications, and estimates for intelligent transportation systems, security systems, and communications systems along with other systems engineering work tasks. Our team of multi-disciplinary experts is seeking a motivated candidate who will utilize their design knowledge to dream big ideas on various and complex intelligent transportation systems, security systems, and communication system projects. We’d rely on your collaboration skills to coordinate interdisciplinary work as well as encourage you to bring your fresh ideas to work every day.You’ll work with a knowledgeable and supportive team as you design these systems and assist in construction support and commissioning activities. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of any of the following : information display systems, security systems and components, public address systems, communication systems and networks, variable message signs, roadway lane use signs, traffic cameras, traffic data sensors, roadway weather information sensors, Operational Technology networks including Programmable Logic Controllers, servers / workstations, and local / wide area networks.Your Role : Work with Systems team and other disciplines on ITS, Security and Communications systems for public and private clientsProvide design packages that include plans, specifications, and cost estimatesProvide calculations to support designsSupport the implementation of these systems by providing field inspections, reviewing submittals, and responding to requests for informationSupport the commissioning and testing of these systemsResearch technologies to provide solutions to clientsAttend team and client meetingsAttend client site visits throughout New England and nationallyHere's what you'll need : Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Civil engineering or related field from an accredited program, university, or college. A Master’s Degree is a plus.Substantial professional years of experience in the design and commissioning of intelligent transportation systems, security systems and / or communication networksWorking knowledge of intelligent transportation systems, security systems, and / or communication networksStrong problem-solving skillsCapable of working in a team environment, including giving and receiving critical feedbackStrong and effective verbal and written communications skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteSelf-motivated, responsible, and accountableAbility to communicate effectively with clients and owners, and able to respond in a timely manner to their requests and needs.Valid driver’s license and ability to transport self to sites on short noticeLocal to greater Boston MA, or willing to relocate to the areaExperience with some or all the following : Traffic control devices such as electronic variable message boards, wrong way driver detectionSurveillance technology and video management platformsElectronic Access Control hardwareCommunications networks including wi-fi, cellular, 5G, and fiber opticsEmerging technologies such as solar, electric vehicle charging, or autonomous vehicle planningAutoCAD, Revit, and / or MicroStationJacobs’ health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about.
