Jacob’s Pillow seeks an AUDIO SUPERVISOR to join the Production Department and work closely with/report directly to the Director of Technical Production (DoTP). The Audio Supervisor directs and manages the Production Department’s Audio Team. They are responsible for the planning, preparation, and execution of the audio elements of all activity within the Ted Shawn Theatre (TST), the Doris Duke Theatre (DDT), the Henry J. Leir Stage (HJL) as well as ancillary spaces across the campus. The Audio Supervisor works closely with the JP Media Team and will support them as they document all activity on campus.
During the pre-season they collaborate with the Production Managers and other Department Heads to advance all upcoming productions and events as well as participate in interviews for seasonal staff members. During the Festival they supervise the Festival Head Audio Engineer as well as supervise, manage, and train overhire audio engineers. They will work closely and collaboratively with the Festival Head Audio Engineer as well as the TST, DDT, and HJL Audio Engineers to ensure they have the information, equipment, training, and labor necessary to successfully support all activity on campus. The Audio Supervisor will also train and mentor the Production Interns during their Audio Supervisor rotation focusing on providing them a deeper knowledge of their position’s roles and responsibilities as well as the standard operating procedures of their department.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain a safe, healthy, and accessible work environment at all times.

Actively participate in communication with visiting companies to ensure clear communication about The Pillow’s facilities and equipment as well as to assess any additional equipment or labor that will be needed to execute each company’s vision.

Manage the preparation, installation, operation, and maintenance of all audio systems of all activity across campus including in the theaters, studios, exhibits, dining facilities, and informational kiosks.

Assist in the creation of seasonal and production specific purchase and rental orders.
-
Act as the primary point of contact for all audio related vendors working closely with the Production Administrator to facilitate purchase or rental deliveries, pick-ups, or shipments.

Act as the primary audio point of contact during the advancing process.

Supervise and support the Festival Head Audio Engineer.

Actively participate in the training and mentorship of the Production Intern Cohort including teaching hands on and practical classes and workshops.

Advise the DoTP on any necessary improvements to The Pillow’s Video infrastructure and equipment.

Maintain departmental and production specific budgets, paperwork, and schedules as needed.

Oversee the creation of any necessary paperwork.

Remain in constant communication with all Production Managers to ensure proper and necessary support for each production or event.

Assist the Production Administrator in the scheduling of Seasonal Production Staff, Interns, and overhire.

Actively participate in work calls, technical rehearsals, or performances as needed including by acting as an audio engineer as needed.

Actively participate in the planning and execution of seasonal opening and closing of the Festival's performance spaces, studios, exhibition spaces, and temporary tents.

Coordinate with the Jacob’s Pillow Media Team to ensure they have access to the necessary production systems and equipment to be able to successfully record productions and events.

Support and assist with the installation and operation of the Season Opening Gala and special events as needed.

Under the general direction of the DoTP, assist with coordination of emergency response for staff and patrons in the event of an emergency or extreme weather

Complete Adult/Child CPR, First Aid, and Cultural Competence Training (provided to all seasonal staff during the pre-season)

Assist other departments, including non-production departments, as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
-
Minimum 4 years of related experience in Audio Engineering and production or departmental management for live performance.
-
Advanced knowledge of and the ability to instruct others on the installation and use of theatrical audio systems as well as departmental standard operating procedures.
-
Knowledge of production-related health and safety best practices and ability to identify and correct potential hazards.
-
Proficiency with Google App suite as well as industry standard audio applications such as Isadora, Qlab, Watchout, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.

Experience with budgeting and scheduling.
-
Ability to work proactively, creatively, flexibly, and collaboratively.

Willingness to learn.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION

Valid driver’s license.

Knowledge and experience working in dance production.

Experience working and/or teaching in a performing arts educational environment.

Experience with video systems, equipment, and software.

Experience with advanced production technology such as augmented reality, virtual reality, or robotics.

Experience managing outdoor or non-conventional performance venues or productions.
