Description

• Maintain a safe, healthy, and accessible work environment at all times.
• Actively participate in the opening and closing of all of the Festival's performance spaces, studios, exhibition spaces, and temporary tents.
• Actively participate in all assigned work calls.
• Participate in all DDT technical rehearsals and performances as a member of the DDT run crew. 
• Assist the DDT PM and Lighting Supervisor in communication with visiting companies to ensure the details of their lighting needs are clear and accurate.  
• Participate in the creation of detailed and comprehensive paperwork including labor plans, changeover narratives, and production schedules. 
• Under the guidance of the DDT PM and Lighting Supervisor lead the installation and operations of the DDT lighting system with the support of interns, seasonal staff, and overhire crew. 
• Act as the primary lighting point of contact for all DDT visiting companies during their time on campus.
• Support the DDT Light Board Operator by offering constructive guidance and by acting as a collaborative co-worker.
• Ensure that the DDT lighting system is prepared and safe for all activity by leading daily and show specific checks, maintenance, and set-up. 
• Assist the Lighting Supervisor and Festival Electrician in making improvements to The Pillow’s lighting infrastructure, support areas, storage rooms and equipment.
• Remain in constant communication with the DDT PM and Lighting Supervisor to ensure proper and necessary support for the visiting companies.
• Maintain clean and orderly lighting workspaces, backstage equipment, and storage areas in the DDT. 
• Participate in the training of Production Interns by offering constructive guidance and by acting as a role model and supportive co-worker.
• Support and assist with the installation and operation of the Season Opening Gala and special events as needed.
• Provide support to Jacob’s Pillow Media Team in documenting performances, talks, and events.
• Support the installation of work into The Pillow’s exhibition spaces. 
• Support the activation of Weather Plans for HJL and other events and activities.
• Attend departmental, production, and all-staff meetings.
• Under the general direction of the DoTP, assist with coordination of emergency response for staff and patrons in the event of an emergency or extreme weather
• Complete Adult/Child CPR, First Aid, and Cultural Competence Training (provided to all seasonal staff during the pre-season)
• Assist other departments, including non-production departments, as needed.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of related experience as an electrician for live performance.
• Strong knowledge and the ability to lead others on theatrical lighting systems and standing operating procedures.
• Knowledge of production-related health and safety best practices and concerns and ability to identify and correct potential hazards.
• Proficiency with Google App suite as well as Vectorworks, Lightwright, and other industry standard lighting applications. 
• Knowledge of DMX, Ethernet, and wireless theatrical networks

• Knowledge and experience working in dance production.  
• Experience working in a performing arts educational environment.
• Experience with stage operations, wardrobe, audio or video systems, equipment, software and standard operating procedures.
• Experience with moving light programming. 
• Valid driver’s license.
• Driving trucks and cargo vans in urban and rural areas.
• Experience with advanced production technology such as augmented reality, virtual reality, or robotics.
• Experience working outdoors or in non-conventional performance venues or productions.

• Working regularly in wooded areas with exposure to native wildlife including, but not limited to, rodents, ticks, and mosquitos.

• Working a 6-day work week including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.
• Moving equipment up to 50 lbs alone or with assistance.
• Moving through and between multiple locations throughout the entire campus including over uneven terrain.
• Remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
• Working at heights above 6 feet and up to 30 feet.
• Ascending and descending straight and step ladders.
• Operating push around or drivable person lifts including at heights.
• Working in show conditions with theatrical and atmospheric elements including but not limited to: fog, haze, strobes, dim lights, and loud sounds.
