Based out of our Milwaukee, WI office or one of our other Jacobs offices in the Midwestern US, you’ll support solid waste, remediation, and sustainability projects for numerous public and private clients in key market areas. We are looking for a driven CAD Technician with interest and experience in Civil Engineering projects, such as infrastructure, utilities, water/wastewater works, site development, etc., to support waste solutions. You will help Jacobs advance the industry by delivering sustainable solutions that help our clients.
You’ll connect with other Jacobs’ practitioners throughout the US and Canadian markets, to design innovative and sustainable solutions to our clients. You’ll be responsible for preparing drawings and sketches using CAD workstations while working closely with Design Engineers and Project Managers.

Key Responsibilities Include
- Perform CAD work in a 3D environment using latest CAD software
- Create detailed civil engineering plans and drawings using CAD software from sketches, layouts, or notes provided by engineers
- Update CAD standard details
- Organize and maintain CAD files
- Produce drawing deliverables in electronic format (PDF) and paper copies
- Participate in all phases of project delivery, under the direction of Engineers, Project Managers, and the Lead Designer
- Review drawings for completeness
- Analyze sketches, notes and other input material to determine and plan the best approach to develop designs with minimal supervision
- Understand scope of works, required CAD Standards, and use good judgment to determine if the drawings will comply with the scope of work, known regulations, and client expectations
Here's what you'll need
- Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, or a closely related field (degree requirement could be waived depending on experience)
- 5 to 10 years of increasingly responsible civil engineering technician experience in the preparation of civil engineering plans and contract drawings using CAD
- AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Microstation experience
- Knowledge of fundamentals of engineering drafting design and land surveying
- Experience using ProjectWise would be an asset
