We're looking for an Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer in Electronics business unit based in Hillsboro OR, - Portland OR metro area who is excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our clients’ business. Join us and you’ll have the chance to work on projects including state-of-the-art industrial and commercial facilities. You’ll be accountable for the schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, as you gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget, and schedule. You may also provide on-site assistance during startup, coordinating work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead. Your multi-discipline, highly interactive team will successfully deliver on the design, development, application, evaluation, recommendation, and specification of engineered systems and products for building HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Systems. This Position is intended to develop experience, communication skills, the practical application of knowledge, and familiarity with the project execution processes

General Tasks Performed:
- Performs and properly documents/annotates engineering calculations
- Develops drawings for equipment layouts and facility systems and interconnects
- Selects equipment using standard sizing guidelines and specifications
- Develops clear understanding and documents scope, schedule, and deliverables
- Develops communication and presentation skills, coordinates information flow within design team and across the disciplines
- Assists with project delivery tasks including client issue tracking, change control, and responding to contractor questions and equipment submittals

- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or closely related major (with emphasis on Mechanical) from an ABET-accredited program
- This is a hybrid entry-level position. Depending on the project assignment this could be largely remote work from home with occasional visits to Jacobs downtown Portland office, or it may be 2-4 days a week on-site at the client’s project site in Hillsboro OR. Candidates must be able to accommodate a mix of both assignments in their first 2-3 years, this will require them to live within a commutable distance.
- EIT or ability to obtain soon after hire
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit software
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary and international teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ideally, you'll also have:- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit software
- Demonstrated ability to plan and organize own work and activities of others to successfully meat project deadlines
- Passion for buildings and construction, with previous internship experience in construction or facility design
