Jacobs is currently seeking an Environmental Technician, you’ll primarily work in the field supporting a variety of teams from different disciplines (i.e., engineers, geologists, and consultants) and backgrounds. Safety will be your priority, as you lead and support safe “incident free” operations in the office and in the field.
As a field Environmental Technician, you will support a variety of field and technical project tasks, primarily, but not exclusively, in industrial chemical facilities around the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast. Based in Lake Jackson, Texas (southern Brazoria County), your tasks will include a mix of field work (90%) and office work (10%). Typical field work tasks include sampling groundwater and potentially other various mediums (soil, sediment, surface water, soil gas, air, etc.), obtaining water level measurements, completing field paperwork to document activities on site, observing subcontractors (drillers, surveyors, etc.), and interacting with our clients. Typical office tasks include data entry, coordination/logistics for field efforts, sample packaging and shipping, and tasks aligned to health, safety, and environmental compliance. We’ll rely on you to complete tasks within schedule and budget and communicate the status of tasks to project managers.

Here's what you'll need
- 2-5 years equivalent experience
- Experience with using Microsoft Office-based software
- 40-hr HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain and maintain
- Be physically fit to perform fieldwork within industrial facilities up to 90% of the time, and wear a respirator, if required
- A valid driver’s license with no major infractions
- Be able to participate in a random drug testing program, including hair follicle samples
- TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) or ability to obtain and maintain
- Ability to travel up to 75% of the time
- Associate’s degree or 2 years of formal technical training.
- Currently located in the Lake Jackson area/ southern Brazoria County
- Experience with sampling groundwater, and general comprehension or willingness to train on sampling other environmental medium (soil, waste, soil gas, and surface water)
- Experience with installation, operation, and/or maintenance of remediation technologies, or at a minimum, willingness to cross train
- Subcontractor oversight experience
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and work collaboratively with internal team members and client facility stakeholders
- Ability to follow written procedures with several steps
