Commercial market sectors are undergoing rapid and dramatic changes, moving away from fossil fuels to alternative clean energy sources. In response, Jacobs is expanding its Energy & Power Solutions team to tackle the complexities of decarbonization and deliver a cleaner, more secure energy future. We are seeking a project manager/technologist to take a leading role in project development as we expand our energy transition portfolio on the West Coast. This opening provides the opportunity to be meaningfully engaged with the development energy transition and utility modernization projects such as

• Energy master planning with regard to decarbonization and resiliency
• High voltage transmission, substation, and distribution facilities in the power industry
• Hydrogen production, distribution, and end use facilities and projects related to energy, transit, ports, utilities, and maritime sectors
• High voltage transmission, substation, and distribution facilities in the power industry
• District Energy Systems
• Geothermal Energy Systems and Infrastructure

The desired candidate will have direct experience in delivering projects within one or more of the categories listed above. Demonstrated abilities include a broad understanding of the potential energy transition solutions. Experience in client development, consulting, design, construction, and EPC project delivery will be highly regarded, as will experience in Owner’s Engineer roles or advisory (technical advisor/due diligence) roles, as well as strategic project development experience.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage internal Jacobs teams as well as external subconsultants and contractors.
• Work with clients to solve their energy transition challenges and meet their decarbonization goals.
• Collaborate with our technical leadership, client account managers, and sales professionals on pursuits of strategic importance.
• Anticipate challenges and manage “up and out” while supporting large teams responsible for the daily details of project delivery.
• Manage client relationships to ensure all expectations are understood and met. Work with the broader Jacobs team as necessary to ensure stewardship of positive client relationships, including active involvement in the resolution of any client concerns.
• Monitor assigned projects to minimize risk and adhere to project budget, schedule, scope, and quality, identifying and mitigating risks as they arise.
• Lead in developing and pursuing business opportunities with existing or new potential clients.
• Support Jacobs operational and business development teams with proposals or other materials for new business opportunities.

Here's what you'll need

• Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field.
• At least 5 years of design, consulting, or project development experience.
• Proven ability to engage with clients, develop relationships, and win work, and then deliver innovative solutions providing value to both the client and provider.
• Demonstrated ability for higher-level strategic, exploration, concept, and development planning for energy projects, including knowledge and application of new and emerging technologies.
• Demonstrated skills in concept and developed design optimization programs to guide sound technical guidance for decision making.
• Effective communication and technical writing skills.
• Experience and understanding of multi-disciplinary project delivery teams.
• Comfortable and effective working independently, as well as leading and collaboratively working in cross-functional teams with multi-levels of the organization including owner’s personnel and third-party engineers and contractors.
• Willing to travel to project sites and/or attend client meetings.

This role can be filled remotely, in office, or in a hybrid capacity, but preference will be given to candidates based on the West Coast, specifically California.

The base salary range for this position is $140,700.00 to $190,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
