We’re looking for a Quality Assurance Professional with a background in material engineering, materials management, specification development, and construction management on Illinois roadway and bridge projects. In this role, you’ll use your expertise working together with our Chicago, IL office technical professionals to resolve complex problems and serve our clients in the construction of highway, local road, toll road, transit, and utility projects. You’ll act as a liaison between engineers, clients, contractors, and stakeholders. You will develop a trusted relationship with the project team, contractor and with the client’s staff. Your primary role will include project quality assurance; reviewing material documentation and monitoring materials compliance on construction projects; and assisting with project management. You will report on project progress, quality control and changes in the contract work. Responsibilities of this position may also include assisting with agency coordination and construction project closeout. This role will involve interaction with stakeholders and contractors to ensure that projects are delivered in accordance with the requirements of the contract.
You’ll work with the best Engineers and Project Managers in the business, as well as gain experience working directly with the project contractors, partners, and clients. This role will also require mentoring of junior engineers and supporting our Chicago business development team with extensive internal and external engagement activities as we continue to grow opportunities. Here's what you'll need
- 15 years of materials engineering/management experience working on highway/roadway, toll road, and bridge projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline
- Professional Engineer license (IL)
- Construction and Materials engineering/management experience on Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), Illinois State Toll Highway Authority (ISTHA), and Chicago Department of Transportation projects.
- IDOT certifications in Documentation of Contract Quantities, PCC levels I, II, and III, and HMA levels I, II, and III
- Ability to commute to/from project locations in the greater Chicago area
- Active engagement in local and national professional organizations
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications, including Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook
- Proficiency with project management systems such as eBuilder
- Excellent organizational and written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of Primavera or Microsoft Project
