Your impact

The Project Controls (PC) Lead Scheduler will provide critical support to Project Controls, Project Management Organization (PMO), Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Team for projects up to $100MM. The PC Lead Scheduler shall plan, coordinate, schedule, forecast, monitor / status / update, and provide progress performance reports for all project scheduling functions as they relate to; development of a baseline, project resources, forecast estimate, tracking and documenting changes, identifying project risks and mitigation resolutions, and incorporating earned value measurement.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage a team of Schedulers, develop and embed best practices, prioritize workload, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Prepare progress schedule reports for the PMO and project managers such that the team is able to work collaboratively to update, analyze and determine status of assigned project tasks
  • Identify project risks as well as develop mitigation measures to the Project Management team.
  • Monitor and measure progress of the project plan and changes. Identify variations from the plan and analyze and report on the cause of the variations
  • Evaluate and forecast project status against an established baseline schedule. Assess the impact to project milestones and report status to appropriate Project Management Organization in order to mitigate project overruns and schedule slippage
  • Monitor earned value on projects to accurately measure progress and performance
  • Analyze and assess project timelines and report the fiscal impact and risk to the PMO.
  • Prepare concise schedule narratives describing the status of assigned projects.
  • Integrate subcontractor and vendor schedules into a master schedule for the delivery of services, equipment, and materials
  • Organize and document Interactive Planning Sessions (IAP) with project stakeholders. The stakeholders shall apply practical field experience with planning/scheduling knowledge to identify challenges and risks to the project schedules and suggest mitigation measures
  • Translate IAP tasks into a sequential project work schedule.
  • Ensure that the project WBS is properly applied such that accurate progress reporting is facilitated in a timely manner, through coordination with project team, subcontractors and vendors.
  • Ensure audit compliance with company scheduling procedures for preparing and maintaining baseline schedules, and train Project Management staff on company scheduling procedures and proper scheduling techniques


Here's what you'll need

  • Requires knowledge and experience of Project Management principles and the Project Control Cycle.
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management or another relevant discipline.
  • 10 years of relevant Project Controls experience on large-scale construction projects. Experience in the natural gas utility is highly desirable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form. This includes the ability to effectively interact with peers, internal and external stakeholders. Strong written communication skills are essential.
  • Extensive demonstrated experience as a P6 Administrator
  • Possess an aptitude for successfully building relationships with employees, internal stakeholders, vendors and service providers.
  • Ability to report on all levels of project schedules, quality, monitor project progress, risk, and ensure project milestones are met.
  • Understanding of critical path method (CPM) scheduling techniques and principles, including ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to manage multiple / concurrent tasks to include project scheduling tasks, issue management, meeting facilitation, document control, and monthly status reporting to the Project Management Team.
  • Must be capable of clearly and concisely presenting project trends and forecast performance reports to management. Making recommendations on strategies to resolve project issues is required.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively interact with various departments to maintain open lines of communication.
  • Must be capable of reporting earned value performance measurement techniques
  • Must be able to track field progress to include an understanding of rates of placement and rules of credit.
  • Must be able to generate BAC, EAC, VAC, BCWS, BCWP, ACWP, SV, CV, CPI, SPI, cash flow, and manpower reports.
  • Must be extremely proficient with Primavera 6 (P6).
  • Experience in preparing schedules for natural gas pipeline projects is preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word software.
  • Understand industry safety standards.
  • Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) is highly desirable.
