The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
That's what we do every day. The Launch Control Systems team is responsible for designing, building, and testing the software, hardware and networking systems that are used to launch the next generation rocket for NASA. As part of the Launch Control System Test team, you will be responsible for design, development, and performance of system level testing.
Comprehension of the system architecture will be key to the design and performance of system level test events. The System Software Test Engineer will be responsible for creating and performing test campaigns for newly created software. The successful candidate will have the technical background to be able to learn and apply knowledge in system level acceptance testing on a large scale, multi-platform architecture.
You must be a quick learner, be able to work both independently and in groups, self-starter and highly motivated. You will be joining a strong team with a history of superior performance in a challenging and rewarding endeavor. Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to :
- Support Verification of the Launch Control Subsystem (LCS) System Software while working directly with multiple groups that provide support to the System Test team.
- Support the Test Engineering group for the LCS as a team environment, interfacing to multiple test groups associated with the Space Launch System (SLS) Firing Room.
- Participate in training independently or in a team environment, to gain an understanding of LCS and the System Threads the candidate is responsible for.
- Participate in various Design Panels, technical assessments and System Use Case Analysis Tasks to understand how new capabilities will impact the various CSCIs and system design, along with dependencies from other software as it relates to these new capabilities.
- Perform other duties within Test Engineering department to include group discussions and process improvements.
- Experience in understanding software development process to include requirements, code implementation and testing is a plus.
- Able to work with various software tools that maintain requirements, test procedures, software / hardware issues and work flow.
- Requires the ability to interpret written information and effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
