You’ll work as part of our practice consisting of over 100 engineers in North America, and over 800 globally. The base salary range for this position is $105,000.00 to $145,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

As a Jacobs Structure / Tunnel Engineer you will
- Design of underground structures (tunnels, underground stations and shafts), earth retaining structures and ground improvement.
- Design support of excavation, diaphragm walls, tie-back systems, and braced excavation.
- Prepare and review technical reports and data reports.
- Participate in field assignments that will include observation and assessment of structural conditions underground structures (earth retaining structures, stations, and tunnels).
- Have the opportunity to travel to and work in locations both within the USA and around the world.
- Use computer programs including DeepEx, Phase2D, Plaxis, FLAC, and MathCAD to complete engineering analysis and prepare design calculations.
- Prepare design drawings and construction specifications, and review construction submittals for compliance with the contract requirements and design assumptions.
- Work in collaborative multi-disciplinary teams across North America and the world. Share technical knowledge across geographical boundaries to foster innovative project solutions.
Here's what you'll need
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (emphasis in Geotechnical or structural Engineering)
- Already passed the FE Exam
- 4 to 8 years of experience in Tunnels, structures, or Geotechnical Engineering
- Strong technical knowledge of the principles of structural systems, basic soil and rock mechanics, geotechnical design
- Experience with the computer programs listed above
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering (emphasis in Geotechnical or Geological Engineering)
- Experience with design assignments for tunnels, structural systems, underground structures and earth retaining structures.
- A breadth of consulting experience for the design and construction of large civil engineering projects, and the desire to grow personally as well as professionally.
