JOB TITLE: Automotive Account Manager DEPARTMENT: Automotive Sales
REPORTS TO: Sr. Manager, Automotive Sales SUPERVISES: None
POSITION TYPE: Exempt
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Automotive Account Manager is responsible for providing sales support to customers and prospects for the automotive industry. The individual will be responsible for increasing existing business and developing the customer base. The Automotive Account Manager will also participate in program management for design-in, development and utilization of JAE Product at key customers. This will be accomplished by providing interconnect solutions and ultimately designing-in JAE standard, custom, and semi-custom products.
The individual must be able to interface with JAE customers and internal staff in the areas of OEM Applications and Connector Product Design and possess the ability to read and understand drawing concepts and the overall design of connectors as they relate to specific applications.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Account Management responsibilities: develop price models, improve profitability, complete customer account knowledge, quotation preparation and resolve customer concerns.
- Provide forecasts for assigned accounts.
- Collection and distribution of customer specific requirements.
- Develop new automotive business opportunities.
- Work with engineering to understand customer application requirements and develop suitable solutions.
- Provide recommendations to customers regarding their connector application requirements.
- Interface between the customer and JAE’s Product Design, Marketing and Manufacturing Groups.
- Participate in account/program management for design-in, development and utilization of JAE Product at key customers.
- Participate in industry trade association meetings and committees as deemed necessary by JAE management.
- Represent JAE at various industry trade shows as directed by management.

CORE COMPETENCIES:
- Automotive Sales Account Management experience
- Basic knowledge relating to interconnect products and their applications
- Ability to initiate and maintain customer/supplier relationships
- Strong negotiation skills
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (Business or Engineering preferred) or equivalent experience
Experience: Minimum 5-7 years combined experience in Automotive Sales/Program Management/Applications
Engineering and/or Technical Sales positions.
Previous experience working with Tier 1 companies such as Sumitomo, Yazaki, Magna, Gentex is helpful.
BUSINESS TRAVEL:
This position requires traveling cross country up to 25% of the time.
PHYSICAL DEMAND:
This position requires lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally.
