Position Summary:
This position will work under the direction of the Nursing Supervisor to provide for the medical and physical needs of the children who receive services at the JAFCO Children’s Ability Center, while ensuring best health and wellness practices.
Role and Responsibilities
This person’s job responsibility includes but are not limited to the following:
- Administer medication per physician’s orders and document as per agency policies and procedures
- Under the supervision of the Nursing Supervisor confirm and or arrange that all medical appointments are attended, and appointment follow up are completed
- Implement all doctors’ orders and recommendations
- Oversee all hospitalizations and discharge instructions
- Provide for the physical needs of the children, ensuring proper daily hygiene of the children including bathing, toilet, first aid and wound care
- Mindfully integrate the Trauma Informed Care Model and Person-Centered Approach into all procedures, practices, and daily interactions
- Assist and support direct care staff with training in proper hygiene practices, bathing, toileting, first aid and wound care
- Assist with and prepare, or arrange for, daily meals and snacks
- Participate with clinical team meetings and attend staff meetings and in-services as required
- Be available and flexible to accommodate scheduling needs
- All other duties as requested by Supervisor

Qualifications
Physical requirements:
Staff must be physically capable of driving an automobile in a safe manner. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Stoop, bend, kneel, stand/walk up to 4 hours, and be capable of continuous activity with children.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Experience working with children with developmental disabilities
- Completion of annual 40 hours of in-service training
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Must be available to work nights and weekends
- CPR, First Aid and Water Safety Certification
