Position Summary:
As a Summer Camp Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in creating a safe, engaging, and enjoyable environment for campers. You will lead activities, provide supervision, ensuring they have a memorable and positive camp experience.
Role and Responsibilities
This person’s job responsibility includes but are not limited to the following:
- Monitor campers to always ensure their safety and well-being.
- Enforce camp guidelines and promote a culture of respect and inclusion.
- Foster positive relationships with campers, providing guidance, support, and encouragement.
- Manage maladaptive behaviors in a safe manner.
- Ensure proper hygiene routines.
- Work closely with fellow counselors and camp staff to ensure smooth operations and a cohesive team environment.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors about camper needs or concerns.
- Assist with mealtimes, cleanup, and other camp duties as needed.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
- All other duties as requested by Supervisor
Qualifications
Physical requirements:
Staff must be physically capable of lifting up to 35 pounds, stoop, bend, kneel, stand/walk up to 4 hours, and be capable of continuous activity with children.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalency; bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1 plus years of experience with children with disabilities in a group setting
- Completion of annual 40 hours of in-service training
- Must be available to workdays Monday – Friday (7am – 6pm)
- CPR, First Aid and Water Safety Certification (will provide training.)
