Overview
The Operational Excellence and Training Supervisor will lead training initiatives and drive process improvement projects within the warehouse. This dual role is integral to fostering employee growth and operational excellence. This role focuses on fostering a safe, efficient, and inclusive workplace while enhancing the skills of our warehouse associates and leaders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in training, project management, and process improvement, along with a passion for creating an efficient and engaged workplace.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Additional duties may be assigned as needed. Management reserves the right to modify or add responsibilities.
Training and Development:
- Oversee and execute all training functions, including new hire orientation, job-specific training, and ongoing employee development.
- Conduct training sessions such as New Hire Fundamentals, Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) training, and Quality & Process (SOP) training.
- Build and lead a team of Training Ambassadors to improve safety, quality, and retention.
- Design and implement professional development programs for warehouse associates.
- Track and report training compliance and outcomes with DC Leadership.
Special Projects and Process Improvement:
- Lead and execute special projects to improve warehouse operations, focusing on efficiency, safety, and employee engagement.
- Analyze current workflows and processes to identify bottlenecks and areas for optimization.
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new and existing processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic initiatives and align project outcomes with organizational goals.
- Monitor the effectiveness of implemented changes and recommend further enhancements as needed.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Operational Support:
- Partner with internal teams, including Supply Chain, Safety, Customer Success, and Operations, to align initiatives with site needs.
- Provide upward feedback and share insights to enhance alignment, compliance, and engagement across departments.
- Flex to perform hands-on work on the warehouse floor during high-volume periods or as required. Cover for other Supervisors when needed.
Skills & Minimum Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Associate or bachelors degree, or a combination of education and related experience.
- 2 years in Training, Learning & Development, Organizational Leadership, Process Improvement, or a combination of these areas.
- Strong background in performance metrics, process improvement, and problem-solving.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to independently manage priorities and make decisions.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in using data to inform decision-making and measure project success.
- Experience managing the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, and terminations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with warehouse management systems.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective documentation, reporting, and presentations.
- Proven ability to drive a culture of safety through regular coaching, training, and observation.
Physical Requirements:
- Remaining in a seated position for long periods of time
- Standing is to remain on ones feet in an upright position without moving about
- The ability to alternate between sitting and standing is present when a worker has the flexibility to choose between sitting or standing as needed when this need cannot be accommodated by schedules breaks and/or lunch period
