Job Summary : This is a hybrid position. We are looking for someone who can seamlessly pivot between an Kitchen Expeditor and Food Runner.
The Runner is responsible for serving our guests in a personable, courteous, and professional manner. This person must see that the highest quality standards are met for guest service and must also work within the framework of a quality food and beverage service team. Responsible for ensuring efficient and correct delivery of dishes to guests. Prioritizing orders and assisting in final dish preparation, ensuring accuracy and presentation. Excellent communication and organizational skills, they maintain fast service and handle customer complaints. Food Runner also may be asked to assist the Busser position when needed by bussing tables, clearing dishes, set-up and breakdown of dining room.
The Expeditor is responsible for communicating and coordinating all restaurant food orders between waitstaff and cooks. This position is a kitchen position that requires an understanding of kitchen line station flows, hot line, cold line, prepping and dishwasher stations. The expediter must have cooking experience in all cooking stations. The expediter also works with the food runners in ensuring high quality dishes are delivered to our guests in a timely manner. Expediters also must handle complaints or issues as they arise with a calm demeanor and a guest hospitality focus that resolves problems.
General Duties and Responsibilities :
- Be a Creative Problem Solver-do whats needed to make the guest happy.
- Delivers (Runs) dishes to tables according to Jakes Food Runner SOP / standards.
- Works closely with expediter / kitchen staff to ensure dishes are delivered to guests according to Jakes specifications.
- Attending all scheduled staff meetings and supplemental training sessions, being attentive and taking notes when appropriate.
- Arrive to work on time and consistently follow shift schedule.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that promotes harmony with guests, co-workers, and management.
- Directly communicates any guests requests to expediter and server when necessary.
- Perform additional duties as requested by management.
