Jake’s is a quaint restaurant located in the uptown design district of Palm Springs. The building is an old bungalow with a large courtyard. The restaurant offers seating in the courtyard, dining room, front patio as well as a side patio. With a hip vibe, Jake’s feels like a fun dinner party with friends. Trusted by locals and visitors to return to time and time again.
We are currently seeking a highly experienced Server to join our friendly, fun, positive work environment.
We are looking for open availability to work lunch & dinner shifts, as well as possible Brunch coverage during the weekends.
Our Servers are relied on to provide memorable, thoughtful experiences by engaging with our guests, serving food with a smile, and anticipating the needs of each guest who visits us. We encourage our team members to be well-rounded and willing to do whatever it takes to keep us running smoothly. Our servers are highly experienced, must see that the highest quality standards are met for guest service, and must also work within the framework of a quality food and beverage service team.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: At least three to five years related experience required. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience with Toast POS preferred. Strong wine and craft cocktail knowledge preferred.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must know daily specials.Need to learn and know all menus.Need to be familiar with restaurant wine lists, have a comprehensive knowledge regarding wines and spirits.When servers arrive, need to check to make sure all stations are neat and setup.Answer any questions customers might have.Make specific suggestions tailoring towards guests’ preferences, and questions.Take orders and double check for accuracy.Must make sure the food is up to Jake’s standards, once served and the customerhas what they ordered –offer dessert, offer after dinner drinks of coffee, espresso, cocktails etc.Server is not allowed to leave until all customers have left their section unless approved by a manager or supervisor.Deliver cocktails or desserts to guests.Notify bussers of any special requests or needs guests may have.Make sure guests have all they need to enjoy their meal.Help all staff when directed by a manager or supervisor.Jake’s customer service sop knowledge and compliance.Work always under the FDA health department rules and procedures.Cooperate and work in harmony with both FOH and BOH staff.Catering service knowledge.Accommodating customers’ special requests.Folding napkins and polishing check presenters.Keep Point of Sale (POS)and handhelds always clean.Always keep servers’ stations neat and clean.Always bring menus back to the front desk.Know and understand Jake’s guidance on “how to deal with an unhappy guest”.Always use the handheld to take guest’s orders. Double check for accuracy.Understand Jake’s coursing and order taking and sending to kitchen.Know and understand Jake’s SOP on “how to deal with guest’s special requests”.Positive attitude, willing to work, remaining busy.Folding customers napkins when not at their seats.Tables updates with host or manager when necessary.New employee training.Workshops meetings mandatory attendance.Proper food and beverage handling sop training.Toast training is required.Taking to-go orders when necessaryPacific Rim, California Fusion Food and Culture Knowledge Mandatory.Sweeping, Dusting, Cleaning If Needed.Start every shift with a cash bank of at least $ 250.00 in the assigned cash drawer.Closing side work –folding napkins, cleaning glasses and making sure your station is clean before departure, clean silverware Arrive to work on time and consistently follow shift schedule.Perform additional duties as requested by management
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be thoroughly familiar with all standards of proper service etiquette and adhere to these standards throughout guest service.It’s also each server’s responsibility to greet guests as they enter the restaurant.Suggest and promote food and drinks served, as food and drink sales are an important part of the position.Be aware of all state liquor laws as well as company and departmental policies regarding consumption of alcoholic beverages.Know all available spirited beverages, NA Beverages, beers, and wines by the glass or bottle. Also, be familiar and comfortable discussing regions, styles, and varietals of wines offered.Knowledgeable about all menus and hours of operation.Be familiar with emergency safety measures.Maintain and ensure each table is clean and presentable for every guest.Take food and beverage orders; ensure placement of order and accurate and timely delivery.Work special group functions as required.Follow the steps of service as outlined for your position.Complete opening/closing duties.
