Based in New York City, our firm has provided comprehensive real estate representation to some of the city’s most prominent developers, landlords, nonprofits and other institutions. With more than 90 attorneys, our full-service practice allows us to share knowledge and work together in a unified manner. We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Litigator with significant real estate litigation experience to join our dynamic legal team in New York. The ideal candidate will have a strong background handling complex commercial disputes, including landlord-tenant matters, contract disputes, construction litigation, and other real estate-related cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in commercial litigation matters, particularly those involving real estate disputes.
- Handle landlord-tenant disputes, lease enforcement, construction disputes, title issues, and foreclosures.
- Draft and argue motions, pleadings, and appellate briefs in state and federal courts.
- Conduct legal research, depositions, discovery, and settlement negotiations.
- Advise clients, including developers, property owners, landlords, and financial institutions, on litigation strategies and risk management.
- Manage cases from inception through trial, including court appearances, mediations, and arbitrations.
- Stay updated on New York real estate laws, commercial litigation trends, and court rulings.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the New York State Bar (required).
- 5 years of commercial litigation experience, with a strong focus on real estate disputes.
- Proven experience handling landlord-tenant disputes, construction litigation, and commercial lease enforcement.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong negotiation and client management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in real estate finance litigation, mortgage disputes, and bankruptcy-related real estate matters.
- Familiarity with alternative dispute resolution (ADR), including arbitration and mediation.
- Prior experience at a mid-size to large law firm.
Salary : $220,000 - $240,000
