JAM Swim School is looking for dedicated Swim Instructors to lead group and private lessons as part of our comprehensive swim program. In this role, you’ll work under the guidance of the Director of Aquatics to plan and teach classes that follow our established curriculum, helping swimmers develop skills progressively and confidently. Responsibilities include setting up lesson stations, keeping accurate attendance and progress records, and maintaining open communication with participants and their families. You’ll also assist with summer swim camps and participate in ongoing professional development to strengthen your teaching techniques. This position requires a commitment of up to 20 hours per week, with the potential for additional hours within our Aquatics Center for the right candidate. We’re seeking someone with flexible availability for private lessons and our annual summer swim camp; current set shift times include Wednesdays from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Pay Range
$12.00 - $19.00 hourly
$17.00 - $24.00 hourly (Private Classes)

Responsibilities
- Plan and implement individualized classes that are developmentally appropriate and in accordance with JAM Swim School curriculum
- Participate in professional development with the JAM Swim School team to share successes, train, plan, and collaborate on teaching techniques
- Lead and help plan summer swim camps or other supplemental swim courses
- Teach private swim lessons in accordance with the JAM Swim School curriculum
- Take daily attendance and submit the class roster
- Hold productive and engaging classes
- Set up and clean up the class stations
- Keep accurate and timely records of all classes taught and progress of swim lesson participants
- Maintain open communication with class participants and/or participant’s family about the progression of the lessons and future goals
- Assist in marketing and outreach opportunities for JAM Swim School as assigned
Qualifications
- Must be at least 15 years of age prior to qualification (certain legal requirements must be met for those less than 18 years old)
- Valid Lifeguard Certification preferred
- Must complete pre-employment/employment testing of lifeguarding skills and knowledge
- Competitive swimming experience preferred or willingness to learn all strokes and techniques
- Experience working with youth or children preferred
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with people of all ages
