We are currently seeking a dedicated full-time Industrial Controls Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the programming department to design, program, test, and integrate industrial robotics and automated machinery, ensuring optimal performance, efficiency, and compliance within safety standards. The candidate may be required to travel up to 15% of the time, which may include overnight stays and site visits for commissioning and/or troubleshooting activities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and program industrial robots for manufacturing applications.
- Utilize robot simulation software to design, test, and optimize robotic programs. Ensure compliance with Robotic Industries Association (RIA) safety standards during code development.
- Design and program PLC's and HMI's for manufacturing applications.
- Employ PLC and HMI design interface software to develop, test, and optimize programs. Maintain adherence to RIA safety standards during code development.
- Collaborate on the design of end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) to meet task-specific requirements. Coordinate with team members, mechanical engineers, and electrical technicians to establish efficient and effective tooling parameters.
- Develop industrial robotic, PLC, and HMI programs optimized for efficient motion, appropriate cycle times, and operator usability, in accordance with client specifications.
- Configure and activate hardware based on application requirements. Support system installation, startup, and on-site commissioning activities.
- Partner with Sales Engineers to provide technical expertise during quote preparation.
- Collaborate with customers, project managers, and team members to achieve project objectives. Create user manuals to effectively communicate the functionality of developed programs.
- Design and evaluate control systems, including the creation of schematics and specification of components.
- Troubleshoot and test systems to verify operational capabilities. Conduct research and testing to ensure manufacturing solutions align with customer objectives.
- Develop commissioning plans and guide users through on-site training and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Participate in manufacturing checkout and shop testing as needed. Address design challenges to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- The role may require up to 15% travel, including potential overnight stays and extended site visits for commissioning and/or troubleshooting activities.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent industrial experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial robotics and control systems programming and integration.
- Proficiency in industrial robotic programming; experience with Fanuc systems is strongly preferred.
- Expertise in PLC programming, HMI programming, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and servo systems; experience with Allen Bradley systems is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical is highly desirable.
- Strong technical knowledge and ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Familiarity with industrial manufacturing processes and robotic systems.
- Capability to design, troubleshoot, maintain, and document control systems for industrial machinery.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a professional and dependable work ethic.
